British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced that his country will send military assets to the Middle East to provide "emergency support" to aid regional security.
"Britain is sending fighter jets and refueling aircraft to its military base in Cyprus in anticipation of any escalation if British facilities are targeted," Starmer said on his way to Canada ahead of the G7 meeting.
He added that fast aircraft and refueling aircraft will provide "emergency support" to assist regional security.
He declined to comment on the possibility of Britain entering the Israeli-Iranian conflict, stressing that the United Kingdom is currently focused on de-escalation in coordination with its allies.
He also refused to answer a question about Tel Aviv's failure to inform London of its military operations against Iran.
The British newspaper The Times reported, citing a senior British government source, that Israel no longer considers the United Kingdom a reliable partner and has therefore not formally informed it of its plan to strike Iran. The newspaper noted that London is currently considering whether to close its diplomatic mission in Tehran.
