Ushakov: Putin and Trump referred to the "brotherhood in arms" between the two countries during World War II

Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump, during a phone call, referred to the two countries' "brotherhood in arms" during World War II.

"As in the previous conversation, the two presidents referred to the brotherhood in arms between the two countries during World War II," Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov told reporters after the conversation.

During the conversation, the two presidents expressed their satisfaction with their personal relations, which facilitate communication and the resolution of pressing issues at the bilateral and international levels.

The Russian presidential aide said, "The two leaders expressed satisfaction with the developing personal relations, which allow for practical communication and the search for solutions to pressing issues on the bilateral and international agenda, no matter how complex they may be."

Ushakov stated that President Putin informed his counterpart Trump during their phone call of Russia's readiness to resume negotiations with the Ukrainian side after June 22. He told reporters: "The Russian side expressed readiness to continue negotiations with the Ukrainians, as scheduled, after June 22, and Donald Trump took this information into account."

He added, "Our President (Vladimir Putin) informed Donald Trump about the implementation of the agreements reached at the meeting of the Russian and Ukrainian delegations in Istanbul on June 2. The President explained that the discussion included the exchange of prisoners, including the wounded and some prisoners under the age of 25."

According to Ushakov, "Donald Trump has once again expressed his interest in ending the Russian-Ukrainian conflict as soon as possible."
