Canada secured their place in the quarter-finals and emerged as Group B champions of the 2025 CONCACAF Gold Cup after beating El Salvador 2-0 in a match at Shell Energy Stadium on Wednesday.
Canada's winning goals were scored by captain Jonathan David in the 53rd minute and Tajon Buchanan in the 56th minute, while El Salvador had to play with nine men after their midfielders, Santos Ortiz and Jairo Henriquez, were shown red cards.Ortiz received a second yellow card in the 35th minute after a hard foul on Niko Sigur.
