Radio station UVB-76, known as the "Doomsday Station," broadcast an on-air message as tensions between Israel and Iran escalated.
The UVB-76 Logs Telegram account, which monitors the station's activity, reported that on June 15 at 15:19 Moscow time, the following message was broadcast on air: (НЖТИ 42525 МАЛОСНЕЖНЫЙ 7383 8915) "Little snow", (NZHTI 42525 MALOSNEZHNY 7383 8915).
The Russian military station UVB-76 has been operating on the 4625 kHz frequency since 1975 and is known to radio amateurs as "The Buzzer" or "Doomsday Radio." Its broadcasts feature a continuous radar buzzing sound interspersed with a short tone signal repeated 25 times per minute.
What adds to the mystery of this station are the strange audio messages that appear from time to time, where a human voice breaks the constant humming to utter a series of seemingly random Russian words or phrases, then disappears as suddenly as it appeared.
Experts have put forward several theories to explain the station's existence. Some believe it may be an emergency communications system for Russia's strategic forces, which explains its nickname, "Doomsday Radio." Others believe it is simply a tool for testing communications channels or a means of misleading foreign intelligence. Some believe it may be part of Russia's legendary "Dead Hand" nuclear network, although there has been no official confirmation of any of these hypotheses.
While the station continues to broadcast its mysterious messages from time to time, the true nature of its work and the purpose of these messages remain shrouded in mystery. At first glance, they seem meaningless, but they may contain secret messages that only those familiar with the secrets of this mysterious station can understand.
