East Kotawaringin prevents misapplication of customary law

The East Kotawaringin Regency Government, Central Kalimantan, supports the Kotim Dayak Customary Council (DAD) which continues to improve the quality of customary resources to prevent errors in the application of customary law.

"This is very important so that what DAD does is truly in accordance with Dayak customary law in accordance with regional regulations (perda) and also does not conflict with national law or positive law," said Kotim Regent Halikinnor in East Kotawaringin (Kotim), Monday.

Halikinnor, who also serves as the General Chairperson of DAD Kotim, said that one of the efforts was through the implementation of technical guidance aimed at ensuring that customary officials could understand their respective duties and functions in carrying out their duties professionally.

What is no less important and what is to be achieved through this activity is to align perceptions regarding the provisions of several articles in the Tumbang Anoi Agreement which are an important basis in Dayak customary law.

He invited all administrators and members of DAD at the district, sub-district, damang, and mantir levels as well as Batamad to prioritize the realization of local cultural preservation programs so that the next generation can inherit and socialize local culture and wisdom among the Kotim  was even a dispute related to the use of rituals that were not intended.

Such things are the motivation for his party to continue to improve the competence of traditional leaders so that in the future when opening the mantir density assembly by the damang as a traditional judge, there will be no problems because it is in accordance with the principles and stages according to the applicable regulations.
