Member of Commission VIII of the Indonesian House of Representatives Selly Andriany Gantina said that the issue of organizing the Hajj needs to be handed over to law enforcement officers because the alleged violations that occurred must be thoroughly investigated.
"This is not a small amount of money, but rather a large amount of funds that must be accounted for. If there are practices of buying and selling quotas or managing hajj funds by certain individuals, it must be thoroughly investigated," said Selly in a written statement received in Jakarta, Thursday.
He emphasized that a comprehensive evaluation of the implementation of the Hajj pilgrimage is important, especially in the implementation of the 1446H/2025M Hajj.
One of the main focuses of the DPR RI Hajj Supervisory Team is to follow up on alleged violations in the implementation of the Hajj in the previous year, namely the 1445H/2024M Hajj by fully handing over the legal process to law enforcement officers (APH), if criminal elements are found. He said that the recommendation was part of the DPR's efforts to ensure transparency and accountability in the implementation of the Hajj pilgrimage."We made several recommendation notes, one of which was to hand over the problem to law enforcement officers. This is important to perfect the investigation being carried out by the KPK," he said.
He added that the KPK is very likely to summon various parties who have direct ties to the organization of the Hajj, including officials who are currently still serving at the Ministry of Religion.
Although a number of echelon officials have been transferred, according to him, there are still strategic positions filled by people who were previously involved in organizing the 2024 Hajj."Both the previous Minister of Religion and the Director General of Hajj who is still in office need to be asked for further information. Likewise with several echelon II and III officials," he said.
