Iran, Iraq and Kuwait were forced to miss the 2025 Asian Fencing Championships at the Bali International Convention Centre, Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali, on June 17–23, due to Iran's war with Israel.
Secretary General of the Indonesian Fencing Association (PB Ikasi) Firtian Judiswandarta said the absence of the three countries was due to an unavoidable force majeure situation.
"They could not leave for Indonesia because of the war between Israel and Iran. In fact, the Kuwaiti team that was already on the plane was forced to cancel the flight. The three have also officially apologized," Firtian said in a written statement.
Thus, the number of participants in the tournament was reduced from 30 to 27 countries, even though this championship is an important event for collecting points for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
