Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stressed in a phone call with his Algerian counterpart Abdelmadjid Tebboune on Saturday evening that if Muslims had united, Israel would not have been able to commit the heinous crimes in Gaza.
Iran's official news agency, IRNA, reported that "Massoud Pezeshkian congratulated Abdelmadjid Tebboune and the brotherly and friendly country, Algeria, both government and people, on the occasion of Eid al-Adha."
“The great Hajj ritual and the large gathering of Muslims from different races, nationalities and countries are a unique manifestation of the unity of the Islamic Ummah,” Pezeshkian noted, expressing his hope that “the messages and blessings of this great holiday will pave the way for strengthening brotherhood and solidarity among Muslims and developing relations between Islamic countries, especially the Islamic Republic of Iran and Algeria.” He also called for “spreading peace, stability and reassurance among all Islamic peoples.”
The Iranian president expressed his "deep sympathy for the oppressed people of Gaza and the resistance fighters who are being subjected to the most heinous inhuman crimes committed by the Zionist occupation entity," asking God to grant them "salvation and liberation."
Speaking to his Algerian counterpart, he added, "If the efforts of Islamic countries combine as one, unified, and cohesive hand, the Zionist entity will never be able, or even dare, to commit such horrific and heinous crimes against the oppressed Palestinian people and the resistant people of Gaza."
Pezeshkian highlighted the "brotherly ties between the Iranian and Algerian peoples," expressing his hope that "bilateral relations will strengthen under this Islamic brotherhood in various fields, including politics, the economy, science, culture, and technology, and that effective steps will be taken toward prosperity, progress, and happiness for the peoples of both countries."
According to IRNA, Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune congratulated the Iranian government and people on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, stressing "the need for concerted efforts by the Islamic nation to achieve lasting peace, stability, and security in the region," emphasizing "the solidarity of countries in supporting the oppressed people of Gaza against the injustice, tyranny, and crimes of the Zionist entity."
Tebboune also expressed his "interest in expanding political, economic, and cultural relations between the two countries," praying to God to "preserve the people of Iran and Algeria, and the entire Islamic nation, from disasters and calamities."
For its part, the Algerian presidency reported that the two presidents also discussed, during the phone call, bilateral relations between the Algerian and Iranian peoples and ways to develop them in the economic, political, and cultural fields.
Tebboune and Pezeshkian also discussed regional and international developments, particularly the Palestinian issue. They agreed to continue making every effort to lift the injustice in Palestine and Gaza and end the genocide against the brotherly Palestinian people. The two presidents expressed their willingness to work together to consolidate and maintain international security and stability, according to the same statement.
