Kemkomdigi welcomes investment for data center from Dubai company

The Ministry of Communication and Digital welcomes an investment worth US$2.3 billion or around Rp37 trillion from Dubai-based company EDGNEX for the construction of a large-scale data center in Indonesia, which will be an important part of efforts to accelerate national digital transformation.

"Data centers are part of the backbone of Indonesia's digital transformation. We see the presence of EDGNEX as a positive signal for the increasing confidence of global investors in the digital ecosystem in the country," said Communication and Digital Minister Meutya Hafid, who is accompanying President Prabowo Subianto on a visit to Russia.

"We encourage investments like EDGNEX to not only be large in scale, but also provide added value to society. Including supporting the digitalization of MSMEs and the use of artificial intelligence in the food, fisheries, and health sectors," he said as quoted in a government press release.

EDGNEX's investment will be used to build a modern data center infrastructure on 12 hectares of land in the Cikarang industrial area, West Java.

The initial phase of the data center infrastructure development project is targeted for completion in 2026 and the development process will continue until   2028.
