The Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) has urged the government to prepare social reintegration for children abandoned by their parents at Kebayoran Lama Market, South Jakarta.
"The government must prepare for social reintegration," said KPAI Commissioner Diyah Puspitarini when contacted in Jakarta, Tuesday.
Social reintegration is preparing children to be ready to interact again and also be accepted by their surroundings.
If the perpetrator of child neglect or abuse is the biological father, the government must also ensure the family's readiness.
"It is important for the extended family and other nuclear families to be prepared, because we are worried that the children will still be intimidated," he said.
