Kremlin comments on Ovechkin's inclusion on Nazi website's 'wanted' list

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov responded to the inclusion of Washington Capitals hockey star Alexander Ovechkin on the Ukrainian website MetroTvorets' blacklist.

In a statement to the Russian news agency TASS, Peskov declined to comment on the Kremlin's reaction to the player's inclusion, describing the issue as "not worthy of discussion," saying, "It is easier today to find people who are not on this list."

Pointing out that this does not concern the Russian presidential administration.

Ukrainian website Mirutforts listed the name of 39-year-old Ovechkin, one of the world's most prominent hockey players, in its database on Tuesday, accusing him of participating in international tournaments to "polish Russia's image" and "justify the aggression against Ukraine to foreign audiences."

The Mirutforts website, founded in 2014, illegally publishes statements by public, political, and media figures from various countries and is considered a source of extremism and incitement.

Ovechkin became the all-time leading scorer in the American Hockey League, surpassing Canadian legend Wayne Gretzky's record of 897 goals last April.

He also led his team, the Washington Capitals, to win the Stanley Cup for the first time in its history in 2018.

Ovechkin, a three-time world champion with the Russian national team, is currently in his 20th season in the American Hockey League.
