Sevilla appointed former Argentina midfielder Matias Almeyda as their new coach on a three-year contract.
Almeyda joins Sevilla after three seasons in charge of Greek club AEK Athens, who he led to the Greek League and Greek Cup title in 2023.
Sevilla's website reported on Tuesday that the 51-year-old began his coaching career after retiring as a player in 2012 with River Plate, who he promoted to the top flight after winning the Primera B Nacional.
He coached Banfield until 2015 in a total of 101 games and led the club to promotion in 2013.
Two years later he moved to CD Chivas Guadalajara in Mexico, leading the club to 147 games, winning the 2017 Mexican League Clausura title, two Copa MX titles and the 2016 Mexican Super Cup.
He also led Chivas to the CONCACAF Champions League title after defeating Toronto FC in the 2018 final.
