The minister explained in a statement on the X platform on Tuesday that the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) teams and all relevant authorities are continuing field survey work in coordination with the governor.
According to initial information, no residential building collapses were recorded within the city.
The minister confirmed that the earthquake resulted in one death, as 14-year-old Avranur Günlu was taken to the hospital in the Fethiye region after suffering a panic attack, but she died despite all medical attempts to save her.
He also noted that 69 citizens were injured as a result of jumping from high places or panic attacks. Fourteen of them were treated at the scene, while eight others were discharged after receiving treatment at the hospital. Forty-six others are still receiving treatment in emergency departments.
The minister concluded his statement by saying, "I ask God to have mercy on our little girl, Afranour, and I offer my sincere condolences to her family. I also wish a speedy recovery to the injured, and I ask God to protect our country and our people from all harm and disaster."
According to the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), the earthquake occurred at 02:17 Ankara time (+3 GMT).
AFAD stated in a statement that the earthquake's depth reached 67.91 kilometers below the Earth's surface, approximately 10 kilometers from the Turkish mainland.
