The relationship between OpenAI and Microsoft is reportedly entering a critical point as OpenAI executives are said to be considering publicly accusing Microsoft of anti-competitive practices during their partnership.
According to a report by The Wall Street Journal citing a number of anonymous sources, as reported by Tech Crunch on Wednesday, OpenAI was even reported to have considered requesting a federal regulatory review of its contract with the tech giant.
The move is said to be part of OpenAI’s efforts to loosen its dependence on Microsoft, particularly in terms of intellectual property ownership and computing resources. However, OpenAI still needs Microsoft’s approval to complete its transformation into a for-profit entity.
