OpenAI gets $3.2 trillion contract from US Department of Defense

OpenAI has officially launched a new initiative called OpenAI for Government, starting with its first contract with the United States Department of Defense (DoD) worth US$200 million or around Rp. 3.2 trillion.

As reported by Engadget on Wednesday, the DoD explained that this contract is intended to develop a prototype of artificial intelligence (AI) technology to address crucial challenges in national security, both on the battlefield and in administrative operations.

This is OpenAI's first contract with a US defense agency, which will last for one year and be centered in the Washington DC area and parts of Maryland and Virginia.

Under this program, OpenAI will provide access to their most advanced AI models, including ChatGPT Enterprise and ChatGPT Gov, as well as specialized models for national security needs.
