Electronics manufacturer Oppo and carmaker Volkswagen have formed a partnership in the use of key patents in mobile technology.
The deal allows Volkswagen to use Oppo's standard- essential patents (SEPs), including those related to 5G connectivity technology.
According to Arena EV's broadcast on Wednesday (11/6), the collaboration is Oppo's first bilateral patent licensing partnership with a vehicle manufacturer.
Oppo has filed more than 113,000 patent applications and holds more than 62,000 patents globally as of March 2025, according to a press release on the company's official website.
The Chinese smart device company, which already operates in 40 countries and regions, continues to invest in the development of technologies such as 5G/6G, artificial intelligence, charging, imaging and video.
