Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto invited the Singaporean Government to be more actively involved in the transformation of Indonesia's health system, including by expanding access to education for medical personnel and improving the quality of health services.
The Head of State, in his statement at the Leaders' Retreat, Parliament House, Singapore, Monday, said that Singapore's experience and excellence could be an important contribution in accelerating the development of the national health sector.
"In the health sector, I invite Singapore to be more active in participating in our health sector transformation efforts," he said.
In front of Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong and a number of high-ranking officials from both countries, the President emphasized that one of his government's priorities is to expand access to education for medical personnel and improve the quality of national health services.
"I plan to build more medical and nursing colleges. These are areas where I believe Singapore's experience can be of great benefit to us," he said.
He also assessed that the partnership with Singapore would be an opportunity for knowledge transfer, training of medical personnel, and improvement of the health service system as a whole.
The transformation of the health sector is part of Indonesia's major human development agenda, in line with the Free Health Check (CKG) program currently being implemented by the government to encourage early detection and prevention of chronic diseases.
