Putin: Attacks on Iran are unjustified aggression. Araghchi: Russia stands "on the right side of history."

Putin condemned the Israeli and US strikes on Tehran and said that Moscow seeks to help the Iranian people during his reception of Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi in Moscow.

"This is an absolutely unjustified aggression against Iran," Putin told Araghchi, noting that Russia is "working to provide assistance to the Iranian people."

In return, Araghchi thanked the Russian president for his condemnation of the US strikes on Iran, saying that Russia stands "on the right side of history."

Araghchi made the comments at the start of his talks with Putin in the Kremlin, telling the Russian president that Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and President Masoud Pezeshkian had asked him to convey their best wishes to him.

In this context, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the US strikes on Iran contributed to expanding the conflict and increasing the pace of escalation, stressing that the situation on the ground in Iran following the strikes is worrying. He also noted that the extent of the damage to Iranian nuclear facilities remains unclear, and it is not yet known whether there is a radioactive risk.

Peskov explained that Russia, which signed a strategic partnership agreement with Iran last January, did not pledge to provide joint military support under this agreement. He added that Moscow had warned, prior to the strikes, that any US military intervention could destabilize the region and push it toward chaos.

The Kremlin spokesman also stated that US President Donald Trump did not inform his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in advance of the details of the strike, despite their prior discussions of the possibility of US military intervention.

Since June 13, Israel has targeted nuclear facilities, missile bases, military leaders, and nuclear scientists in Iran. Iran has responded by striking Israeli military and intelligence headquarters with ballistic missiles and drones, leaving casualties on both sides.

At dawn on Sunday, the United States launched airstrikes on the strategic facilities of Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan in Iran, complementing the military, intelligence, and logistical support Washington provides to Israel in its aggression against Iran.
