Ramirez vs. Dorticos: Clash of the titans in Anaheim

The World Boxing Association (WBA) said cruiserweight (90.7 kg) champion Gilberto Ramirez against Yuniel Dorticos on June 28 will be a clash of titans for the championship title in Anaheim, California.

"Gilberto 'Zurdo' Ramirez from Mexico, the WBA cruiserweight world champion, will put his title on the line against Cuban knockout artist Yuniel 'Dr.KO' Dorticos," the WBA reported on the association's official website, which was monitored in Jakarta, Wednesday.

The WBA explained that for Ramirez, the upcoming fight is an opportunity to solidify his position in the division.

Since moving up to cruiserweight , the southpaw has displayed his trademark hard hitting, methodical pressure and ring IQ, which has proven just as effective against bigger opponents.

His most recent win over Chris Billam-Smith was a huge one, unifying two titles and making him the first Mexican athlete to capture two belts in the cruiserweight division .

Ramirez will be going up against a puncher like Dorticos. He knows that making a statement may be as important as winning.

The 33-year-old Ramirez will be looking to retain his title as he enters the ring carrying a record of 47 wins with 30 knockouts and one loss.
