The executing prosecutor at the Simeulue District Attorney's Office (Kejari), Aceh Province, executed the flogging of six convicts of maisir or gambling based on a ruling from the Sharia Court which has permanent legal force.
The execution of the caning sentence took place in the courtyard of the Tgk Halilullah Grand Mosque, Simeulue Regency in Simeulue, Tuesday.
The execution of the convict was carried out on a stage provided and took place in front of a large audience. The execution was also witnessed by elements of the Simeulue Regency Forkompinda.
The gambling convicts who underwent the caning sentence were Asriman, Ariamin, Safrinoni, Ranjli, Munadir, and Akbartul Chairi. The convicts were executed with a sentence of 12 lashes each.
The convicts were found legally and convincingly guilty of violating Article 18 of Qanun Number 6 of 2014 concerning criminal law based on the decision of the Sinabang Sharia Court.
