The Governor of South Kalimantan H. Muhidin inaugurated the Mayor-Deputy Mayor of Banjarbaru for the 2025-2030 period Hj. Erna Lisa Halaby-Wartono at the Idham Chalid Building, South Kalimantan Provincial Office Center, Banjarbaru.

Muhidin inaugurated the Mayor-Deputy Mayor of Banjarbaru based on the Decree of the Minister of Home Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia Number 100.2.1.3-2408 of 2025 concerning the Appointment of the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan Province.

It is known that the Indonesian Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian appointed the Mayor-Deputy Mayor of Banjarbaru Hj. Erna Lisa Halaby-Wartono on June 17, 2025 based on the results of the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Head Elections (Pilkada).

"On behalf of the South Kalimantan Provincial Government and personally, I congratulate and wish success to Hj. Erna Lisa Halaby and Wartono as Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Banjarbaru, hopefully they can carry out this mandate with full responsibility and trust from the community," said Muhidin.

Furthermore, Governor Muhidin emphasized the important role of Banjarbaru as the new face of South Kalimantan which now has the status of the Provincial Capital.

Muhidin said that Banjarbaru has grown into a dynamic city that is the center of attention in the fields of government, economy, education, and culture, so that the community has high hopes for the leader of Banjarbaru City to present good governance, services and open public participation.

Muhidin also reminded regional heads to provide space for aspirations for religious leaders and figures to support the progress of regional development.

Previously, the South Kalimantan Provincial General Election Commission (KPU) appointed the Erna Lisa Halaby-Wartono pair as the elected Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Banjarbaru through the results of the 2024 Regional Head Election Revote (PSU Pilkada).

The decision from the South Kalimantan Provincial KPU follows up on the Constitutional Court's decision not to accept the request for a dispute over the results of the 2024 Banjarbaru City Pilkada re-vote (PSU).
