The youngest son of the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo, Kaesang Pangarep, officially registered himself as a candidate for general chairman in the 2025 Indonesian Solidarity Party General Election at the PSI Central Leadership Council Basecamp.
He said that there was still a lot of work as general chairman that he had not completed in PSI, along with the restructuring within the DPP, Regional Leadership Council (DPW), and Regional Leadership Council (DPD) of the party with the rose symbol.
"Well, I think I have to finish all of that and bring PSI much better in 2029," said Kaesang in a press conference after registration.
Regarding his position as an incumbent, Kaesang said that he had applied for leave as PSI General Chairperson to focus on the election process.
Later, he said, there will be a daily executive chosen by the Advisory Board to replace him in leading PSI throughout the process of electing the general chairman candidate.
He also expressed his gratitude to the DPW representatives who supported him to advance as a candidate for PSI general chairman.
" God willing, PSI will enter Senayan in 2029, we will increase the number of regional heads from PSI cadres. What is certain is that we must also prepare to wait for big figures who will join PSI," said Kaesang.
Apart from himself, Kaesang said that there would likely be several other candidates for PSI general chairman who would register.
"There are still a few days, two more days before registration closes," he said.
Previously, Ronald Sinaga or "Bro Ron" who is the Deputy Chairman of the Regional Leadership Council of the Indonesian Solidarity Party PSI West Java DPW became the first registrant of the PSI General Chair Candidate at the PSI DPP Basecamp.
