Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo, captain of the Saudi club Al-Nassr, presented his country's national team jersey to US President Donald Trump in a symbolic gesture calling for peace.
The shirt bore the Portuguese star's signature and a special message that read: "To President Donald Trump Playing for peace."
The gift was delivered by European Council President Antonio Costa during the US President's and Costa's participation in the G7 summit in Canada.
Trump expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the gift, reading aloud the word "CR7" written on the shirt before posing for a souvenir photo holding the shirt bearing the number 7.
This initiative comes at a time of escalating political tensions between several countries, prompting numerous public and sports figures around the world to issue messages calling for peace and understanding among peoples.
Ronaldo, 40, recently concluded his football season with a successful participation with his country's national team in the 2024-25 UEFA Nations League, where he played a decisive role by scoring two goals in the semi-finals and final, helping the Selecao to their third continental title.
This is Ronaldo's first achievement since joining Saudi club Al-Nassr in 2021, after a period in which he only won the Arab Cup in a friendly match.
Despite his advanced age, the Portuguese star still believes in his ability to achieve more titles with his team, rejecting previous offers to participate in the Club World Cup and insisting on remaining with his Saudi team to fulfill his sporting ambitions.
