Türkiye warns of a "global catastrophe" after US strikes on Iran, calls for calm

The ministry said in an official statement that Ankara had previously warned of the danger of sliding into a wider conflict due to the ongoing Israeli aggression, adding that the recent US strike "raised the danger level to its highest level."

The statement affirmed that Türkiye is following with great concern the repercussions of the recent escalation, stressing the need to immediately halt mutual attacks and avoid any steps that could lead to further human losses and destruction.

Ankara called on all parties to exercise responsibility and use reason, noting that the only solution to the dispute over Iran's nuclear program lies in returning to the negotiating table.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry concluded its statement by affirming Ankara's readiness to play a constructive role and contribute to efforts to de-escalate the situation and avert a regional catastrophe that could have international repercussions.

On Sunday morning, the United States entered the Israeli war against Iran, with President Donald Trump announcing a "highly successful" attack targeting Iran's three most prominent nuclear sites: the Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan facilities.

Since June 13, Israel, with US support, has launched a large-scale attack on Iran, targeting nuclear facilities, missile bases, military leaders, and nuclear scientists. Tehran responded by launching ballistic missiles and drones deep into Israel, in the largest direct confrontation between the two sides.
