The West Sumatra Ombudsman Representative has asked the government and law enforcement officers to be brave and take firm action against illegal or unlicensed buildings along the Megamendung Nature Tourism Park area, Tanah Datar Regency.
"In fact, after the sealing stage, activities in the Megamendung TWA area have resumed operations," said Head of the West Sumatra Ombudsman Representative Adel Wahidi in Padang.
This was conveyed by Adel in response to the operation of several buildings and activities in the Megamendung TWA area. In fact the Ministry of Forestry together with the West Sumatra Natural Resources Conservation Agency Polri and the local provincial government had sealed the area.
According to Adel, it happened because the government and related agencies were not firm on policies or decisions that had been made previously. The impact was that illegal buildings in the Megamendung TWA area were operating again after being sealed.
He said that if the sealing was ignored by the managers or business owners in the Megamendung TWA area, the Ombudsman suggested that forced demolition be carried out. This is also in accordance with the warning from the Ministry of Forestry which states that TWA is included in the forest area and under the supervision of the Directorate General of Forestry Law Enforcement.
