PT Zurich General Takaful Indonesia recorded gross contribution income of more than IDR 1.4 billion from travel insurance products during the 2025 Hajj period.
President Director of PT Zurich General Takaful Indonesia Hilman Simanjuntak said that this achievement reflects the high level of public trust in sharia-based insurance protection, especially in sacred pilgrimages.
"This growth reflects public trust in sharia-based protection, especially for sacred pilgrimages such as the Hajj and Umrah. Therefore, we are here to ensure the peace of mind of pilgrims during their journey through protection solutions that are trustworthy, easily accessible, and in accordance with Islamic principles," Hilman said in an official statement in Jakarta, Tuesday.
The Saudi Arabian government previously set Indonesia's 2025 hajj quota at 221,000 people, making Indonesia the largest hajj sending country in the world. The high interest has also had a positive impact on Zurich Syariah's business performance.
Not only from the hajj journey, the growth of contributions was also recorded from the umrah travel insurance product. Based on data from the Integrated Computerized Management System for Umrah and Special Hajj (SISKOPATUH) of the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs, the number of umrah pilgrims from Indonesia until April 2025 reached 648,485 people, up 19 percent compared to the same period last year.
Along with that, Zurich Syariah recorded a gross contribution growth of more than 30 percent from Umrah travel insurance.
Furthermore, Zurich Syariah is also actively promoting integrated protection products that combine Umrah trips with visits to countries surrounding Saudi Arabia such as Türkiye, the United Arab Emirates, and Morocco.
With protection of up to IDR 500 million, customers can obtain benefits that include medical and emergency costs, trip cancellation and changes, baggage and personal belongings guarantees, personal accidents, and repatriation of remains.
"The Hajj and Umrah pilgrimages are not just physical journeys, but also spiritual ones. We want to be part of the pilgrims' peace of mind, through comprehensive protection designed according to Islamic values," Hilman said.
