20 martyrs in ongoing bombardment of Gaza... and the occupation creates a fourth "separation axis" amid warnings of worsening hunger.

Medical sources reported that the city of Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip bore the brunt of the bombardment, with the airstrikes killing eight civilians, including three children, and wounding others. The airstrikes targeted tents housing displaced people in the Al-Mawasi area west of the city.

In the Al-Mawasi area, two citizens were killed and others were injured in a bombing that targeted tents housing displaced people behind the Al-Attar station. A 6-year-old child was also killed and others were injured in an airstrike that targeted tents near the Tiberias station in the same area.

For its part, the official Palestinian news agency (WAFA) reported that nine citizens were killed among those waiting to receive aid on Al-Tina Street, southwest of Khan Yunis.

In Gaza City, two citizens were killed and several others were injured when Israeli warplanes targeted a home belonging to the Al-Hattab family in the Al-Sabra neighborhood, south of the city.

The Nuseirat refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip also witnessed an Israeli airstrike that resulted in the deaths of four civilians, including three children, following the bombing of tents housing displaced persons near the Al-Rabi' Hall in "Camp 2." Meanwhile, a citizen was killed and several civilians were injured in a bombing that targeted the Al-Safa Tower inside the camp.

In another development, a young man from the Maghazi refugee camp was martyred when a café located on the beach of Az-Zawaida in central Gaza was targeted.

East of Gaza City, violent explosions were heard in the Zeitoun neighborhood, as a result of Israeli forces bombing residential homes, according to the WAFA news agency, amid heavy smoke rising from the area.

Chapter Four axis

In a parallel field context, the Israeli occupation army announced on Wednesday the establishment of a fourth military axis in the Gaza Strip, dubbed the "Magen Oz Axis," separating eastern Khan Yunis from its western part, and measuring approximately 15 kilometers in length.

The Israeli army explained in a statement that forces from the 188th Brigade and the Golani Brigade had completed the opening of the new axis, noting that it was part of what it described as "pressure on Hamas" and "resolving the battle."

With this new axis, the occupation has established four main separation axes in the Gaza Strip: the Netzarim axis, which separates northern Gaza from the rest of the Strip; the Philadelphi axis on the border with Egypt; the Morag axis between Rafah and Khan Yunis; and the Magen Oz axis, which divides Khan Yunis east and west.

UN warns of worsening hunger

Amid the ongoing Israeli blockade, the United Nations warned Tuesday evening that rates of severe malnutrition among children in the Gaza Strip have doubled since the Israeli occupation tightened restrictions on food imports in March.

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) reported that it examined approximately 16,000 children under the age of five in its clinics during June, and concluded that 10.2% of them were suffering from acute malnutrition, compared to 5.5% in March .

According to the agency, the humanitarian situation has deteriorated further since Israel violated the ceasefire earlier this month and imposed a near-total ban on the entry of food and other supplies into Gaza, as part of a policy aimed at pressuring Hamas to release prisoners.

Despite a limited easing of the blockade in late May, allowing small amounts of aid into the country, the United Nations described the aid at the time as no more than "a drop in the ocean."

Since October 7, 2023, Israel, with American support, has been committing genocide in Gaza, including killing, starvation, destruction, and displacement, ignoring international calls and orders from the International Court of Justice to halt it.

The genocide left more than 197,000 Palestinians dead or wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 11,000 missing. Hundreds of thousands were displaced, and famine claimed the lives of many, including children, as well as widespread destruction.
