The Ministry of Communication and Digital has established an AI Center of Excellence to support talent development and expand the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) technology in Indonesia.
Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Nezar Patria said that the AI Center of Excellence is a collaboration between the government, universities, industry, and the community.
"So, together with universities, industry, and communities that use AI, we can use the single access opened by the AI Center of Excellence so that the adoption of AI technology can be more beneficial for the Indonesian people," he said at the launch of the AI Center of Excellence in South Jakarta on Friday.
The Ministry of Communication and Digital is collaborating with technology companies Indosat, Cisco, and Nvidia to establish an AI Center of Excellence, which will provide access to AI knowledge and technology transfer.
" The computing power prepared will also be accessible for research and to address the adoption of AI in business, public services, education, healthcare, and all other sectors," he said.
"This is an acceleration effort where we involve key stakeholders who support the current digital transformation," he added.
The AI Center of Excellence is believed to be a solution to the AI talent gap in Indonesia by producing new, skilled digital human resources.
"The AI Center of Excellence has a unique approach that aligns with the Indonesian context," said Nezar.
"As a hub, the AI Center of Excellence will serve as a beacon platform to foster collaboration and empower global and local networks to share expertise and lead innovation programs," he explained.
