The Indonesian Telecommunications Providers Association (ATSI) has stated that monitoring the recycling of SIM card numbers is crucial to prevent misuse for online fraud.
"We hope that monitoring will continue. Operators will report to us, and we will remain subject to regulations," ATSI Executive Director Marwan O. Baasir said after attending a discussion.
He explained that the government, through the Minister of Communication and Informatics Regulation Number 5 of 2024, has regulated the limitation of ownership of three SIM cards per operator with one NIK.
