Indonesia's representative won an award at the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Prizes 2025 in the categories of Cultural Diversity and Identity, Linguistic Diversity, and Local Content through the BASAibu program, proving the resilience of rich regional languages in the digital era.
"BASAibu is an example of how digital space can be utilized positively to encourage the younger generation to participate in preserving culture," said Ichwan Makmur Nasution, Head of the Center for International Institutions at the Secretariat General of the Ministry of Communication and Digital, in a statement.
He stated that through the Empowering Youth through Digital Innovation initiative, BASAibu was deemed successful in strengthening the capacity, involvement, and role of the younger generation in public issues using regional languages in the digital space.
