Be wary of Thailand's ball possession, says former U-23 national team coach

Persela Lamongan coach Aji Santoso said the Indonesian U-23 national team needs to be wary of the good ball control abilities of the Thai U-23 national team when the two teams face each other in the semifinals of the 2025 ASEAN U-23 Championship.

Aji, who coached the U-23 national team in the 2010s, said, "We know this Thai team has excellent ball possession. This is what's dangerous, especially if they dare to position the ball in our defensive area. That's something we need to anticipate."

Thailand, who won 4-0 against Timor Leste and drew 0-0 with Myanmar in Group C, had an average of 59 percent possession in the two matches, according to Sofascore.

In those two matches, Thailand always managed to get at least four shots on target.

"So, Thailand is also a good team, so of course, how to face this Thai team? Of course, the coach already knows what our players have to do on the field," said the 43-year-old coach.
