Braces should be installed before orthognathic surgery.

Dr. Dwi Wicaksono, Sp.BPRE, Subsp.KM(K), a plastic surgeon specializing in craniomaxillofacial surgery at RSCM, said that braces should be installed before patients undergo orthognathic surgery or jaw-tooth bleeding.

"In fact, it was recommended to install braces beforehand because it helps us as operators (during the operation)," said Dwi Wicaksono in an online discussion in Jakarta on Friday.

The doctor, who graduated from the University of Indonesia, said that installing braces before surgery would provide a good jaw curvature, so that when the operation was carried out, the process would be much easier.
