Collaboration between actors makes the risk of cyber attacks more complex.

Cybersecurity firm Ensign InfoSecurity revealed that collaboration between cybercriminals in the underground cyber ecosystem increases the risk of increasingly complex and difficult-to-trace attacks.

"So now it's easier for anyone to participate in cyber threats or attacks. This means that someone at a particular company who has a password or username at that company can sell their username and password on the dark web or in the underground economy," said Adithya Nugraputra, Head of Consulting at Ensign InfoSecurity, during a media discussion in South Jakarta on Wednesday.

He explained that cybercriminals such as ransomware operators, Initial Access Brokers (IABs), or groups that sell access to systems and networks, and hacker groups work together to carry out attacks with the motive of gaining profits from various sources.

"So, no one needs to have the capability to hack or participate in cyberattacks. It makes things much easier, and the economic benefits also increase. If the attack is successful, the profits are shared," he said.
