The Chairman of the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI), Erick Thohir, stated that he is ready to be the target of criticism and insults regarding the performance of the Indonesian national team, but he asked that the target of insults not be directed at the Garuda team.
"I saw yesterday, after the draw (for the fourth round of the 2026 World Cup qualifying group stage in Asia), many observers made their assessments. Some were pessimistic, others optimistic. I'm sure grassroots football fans are giving the national team tremendous support. But netizens are doing it as usual," said Erick when met at the Jakarta International Stadium on Friday.
"I just have a message. Please. Insult me, criticize me, it's okay. But please don't break up the national team. The coach isn't even a worker yet, and he's already being criticized. Yes, the players are."
