But fourth seed Jonatan Christie was eliminated after losing 13-21, 12-21 to Kenta Nishimoto, which continued Jonatan's unsatisfactory trend in recent tournaments.
Women's singles player Gregoria Mariska Tunjung also lost after losing 10-21, 12-21 to Japanese player Riko Gunji.
The men's doubles pair Leo Rolly Carnando/Bagas Maulana, who were the eighth seeds, also lost to the Taiwanese pair Liu Kuang Heng/Yang Po Han with 15-21, 19-21.
