The movement added in a statement posted on Telegram that "stopping the war of extermination being perpetrated by the occupation against our people in Gaza is a top priority for the movement's leadership, which continues its contacts with mediators, countries, and relevant parties."
Hamas explained that the Israeli occupation is attempting to blackmail Palestinians by committing massacres against civilians, in an attempt to impose conditions on the negotiating table that it "could not achieve militarily."
The movement affirmed that it is continuing consultations with Palestinian factions "responsibly, rationally, and with utmost speed" to reach a comprehensive agreement that includes "a cessation of aggression, an end to genocide, the achievement of our people's goals of reconstruction, the lifting of the siege, and ensuring a dignified life for the people of Gaza."
Negotiations under fire
The movement's statement comes as indirect negotiations between Hamas and Israel continue in the Qatari capital, Doha, under Egyptian and Qatari sponsorship and with US participation, with the aim of reaching a prisoner exchange agreement and a ceasefire.
A Palestinian source revealed to Anadolu Agency on Saturday that Hamas had received new maps from mediators showing the areas of Israeli military control in the Gaza Strip, and the movement had begun studying them as part of the ceasefire negotiations.
Over the course of more than 21 months of war, multiple rounds of indirect negotiations were held between Israel and Hamas, resulting in two partial prisoner exchange and ceasefire agreements: the first in November 2023, and the second in January 2025.
However, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who is wanted by international justice, evaded the completion of the latest agreement and resumed the genocide in Gaza on March 18, yielding to pressure from his most extreme right-wing faction.
Hamas repeatedly affirms its willingness to release Israeli prisoners "in one batch" in exchange for ending the genocide and withdrawing the occupation army from the Gaza Strip.
ongoing genocide
Since October 7, 2023, Israel, with full American support, has been waging a war of extermination against the Gaza Strip, including killing, starvation, destruction, and forced displacement, ignoring all international calls and orders from the International Court of Justice to halt the war.
The genocide left more than 200,000 Palestinians dead or wounded, most of them children and women, in addition to more than 9,000 missing and hundreds of thousands displaced, in addition to a famine that claimed the lives of many.
