Israeli Chief of Staff: We are paying a heavy price in the fighting in Gaza...and the campaign against Iran is not over.

This comes a day after US President Donald Trump confirmed, in a post on Truth Social on Monday evening, that his country would attack Iranian nuclear facilities again "if necessary."

The Israeli Ministry of Defense also issued a statement on July 17 directing the acceleration of production of missiles designed to intercept ballistic missiles, "which will allow for a significant acceleration of the production of Arrow missiles."

The Israeli occupation army said in a statement on Tuesday: "Yesterday (Monday), a situation assessment was conducted in various theaters of operations, led by Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir, with the participation of members of the General Staff and the Operations Staff, for the first time in about two years."

He added, "The situation assessment provided intelligence, operational, and strategic realities across all theaters of operations, from the immediate borders to the depths of the Middle East, including a comprehensive perspective from Tehran to Gaza."

In this regard, Zamir said, according to the statement: "The Israeli army must be prepared to continue a broad and comprehensive campaign in light of a complex and challenging reality that requires multi-sectoral action."

He added, "The IDF is required to operate offensively in several theaters of operations, alongside basic defense in theaters of operations and on the border. We will continue to maintain air superiority and continue our intelligence efforts."

Zamir acknowledged that "the battle in the Gaza Strip is one of the most complex battles the Israeli army has ever witnessed."

He pointed to the killing of an Israeli soldier in the southern Gaza Strip on Monday, saying, "We are paying a heavy price in the fighting, and we witnessed that today. We will continue working to achieve our goals: returning the abducted (prisoners in Gaza) and toppling Hamas."

Zamir added: "We are operating in a multi-sectoral manner. We will continue to weaken and prevent strategic capabilities from Syria and Hezbollah (in Lebanon), maintain our freedom of action, and operate in Judea and Samaria (the West Bank)."

The Chief of Staff of the Israeli occupation army continued: "Iran and its axis remain in our sights. The campaign against Iran is not over yet."

Zamir stated that "2026 will be a year focused on preparedness, maximizing achievements, restoring capabilities, and seizing operational opportunities," as he put it.
