"We were able to raid a gathering of enemy soldiers and vehicles in the Abasan al-Kabira area east of Khan Yunis," the Qassam Brigades said in a statement.
It added that its fighters targeted a Merkava tank and an armored personnel carrier with "Al-Yassin 105" shells, as well as two military excavators with the same shells.
She explained: "Then our fighters advanced towards the enemy soldiers and engaged them with light weapons. They tried to capture one of the soldiers, but the conditions on the ground did not allow for this, so they finished him off and seized his weapon."
The Al-Qassam Brigades indicated that its fighters monitored the helicopter landing to evacuate the area.
The Israeli occupation army did not immediately comment on the Qassam Brigades' statement.
On Tuesday, Qassam Brigades spokesman Abu Obeida commented on an operation carried out by Qassam fighters in the town of Beit Hanoun, north of the Gaza Strip, which resulted in the deaths of five Israeli soldiers and the wounding of 14 others. He said, "The battle of attrition that Qassam fighters are waging with the enemy, from the north of Gaza to its south, will inflict additional losses on it every day."
He continued: "If the Israeli army recently miraculously succeeded in freeing its soldiers from hell, it may fail later, leaving us with additional prisoners."
In later statements today, the Qassam Brigades announced that it had targeted a military excavator with two Israeli soldiers inside in Abasan al-Kabira in Khan Yunis with an RPG shell on Tuesday. It also said that its fighters had targeted a Merkava tank with a landmine east of the city on July 4. It also announced that it had targeted a D9 military bulldozer with a highly explosive device on Sarari Street in the town of Jabalia, north of the Gaza Strip, on the 5th of the same month.
Israel conceals most of its human and material losses, prohibits filming and the circulation of photos and video clips, and prohibits providing information to the media about the losses except through entities subject to its strict oversight.
