The Indonesian government's implementation of an inclusive digital transformation model received significant attention from world-class leaders at the Leaders TalkX forum in Geneva, Switzerland.
This global spotlight was obtained after the Minister of Communication and Digital (Menkomdigi) Meutya Hafid explained that Indonesia upholds digital development that must reach all citizens without exception.
"Digital connectivity is everyone's right, not the privilege of a select few. Internet access must be available in rural, urban, and even remote areas," Meutya said in a panel discussion titled "The Role of Governments and All Stakeholders in the Promotion of ICTs for Development" on Wednesday.
Meutya emphasized that Indonesia's approach, integrating infrastructure development, human resource capacity building, and digital literacy, is a model that can be replicated by other countries.
Specifically in terms of digital infrastructure, by July 2025, the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Kemkomdigi) through the 10,000 Digital Villages program run by the Telecommunication and Information Accessibility Agency (BAKTI) has reached 4,132 villages in underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost (3T) regions.
