Kuwait expressed its "strong condemnation of the unjust blockade imposed on the Gaza Strip," considering it a "flagrant violation of international law and international humanitarian law, and a challenge to international legitimacy and Security Council resolutions, including Resolution 2417, which criminalizes the use of starvation as a weapon of war."
A statement issued by the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed the need for the international community and the Security Council to assume their legal and moral responsibilities, implement UN resolutions, immediately lift the blockade on the residents of Gaza, allow the entry of humanitarian aid, and halt what it described as "genocide and systematic starvation" against the Palestinian people.
For its part, the Gulf Cooperation Council, in a statement, called on the international community to take urgent action to end the blockade imposed on the Gaza Strip and ensure the flow of humanitarian aid without delay or conditions.
Secretary-General of the Council, Jassim Al-Budaiwi, expressed the Gulf states' condemnation of the ongoing blockade, describing it as "inhumane and illegal," and warning of a worsening humanitarian catastrophe resulting from food and medicine shortages and the spread of famine.
The statement indicated that this situation represents a clear violation of international humanitarian law, the Geneva Conventions, and human rights principles, and reflects a challenge to the entire international community.
This position comes on the eve of an emergency meeting of the Arab League at the level of permanent representatives to discuss the serious deterioration in the humanitarian situation in Gaza. The meeting, which was held at the Palestinian request, was held according to official statements issued by the League and Palestinian delegate Muhannad Al-Aklouk.
In the same context, during his meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney in Ottawa, Jordanian King Abdullah II called for intensified international efforts to stop the war in Gaza and ensure uninterrupted access to humanitarian and medical aid to civilians.
The Jordanian monarch also stressed the need to support the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, noting that the two-state solution remains the only way to achieve comprehensive and just peace in the region.
Since October 7, 2023, Israel has been waging a war of extermination in Gaza, including killing, starvation, destruction, and forced displacement, ignoring all international appeals and orders from the International Court of Justice to halt it.
The genocide, with American support, left more than 200,000 Palestinians dead or wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 9,000 missing, in addition to hundreds of thousands of displaced persons, and a famine that claimed the lives of many.
