The Ministry of Communication and Digital needs additional budget to implement the ministry's priority programs in 2026.
In a working meeting with Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives at the parliamentary complex the Ministry of Communication and Digital proposed an additional budget of IDR 12.6 trillion from the indicative budget ceiling for 2026 which was set at IDR 7.75 trillion.
"To support the implementation of priority programs, we need additional budget from the indicative ceiling of the Ministry of Communication and Digital for the 2026 Fiscal Year," said Minister of Communication and Digital Meutya Hafid in a press statement in Jakarta, Tuesday.
The Ministry of Communication and Digital requires additional budget to build internet access facilities in the Papua region, ensure the sustainability of the National Data Center (PDN), and accelerate the development of artificial intelligence (AI) technology as part of the national digital transformation.
Meutya said that these three things are an integral part of the government's efforts to build a digitally inclusive Indonesia that is not left behind in global competition.
