Mandiri Bintan Marathon helps produce young regional athletes

The 2025 Mandiri Bintan Marathon international running event will not only boost the sports tourism sector, but will also become a breeding ground for young regional athletes through collaboration with the All Indonesia Athletics Association (PASI) Bintan and PASI Riau Islands.

The race, which will be held on Bintan Island, Riau Islands on November 8-9, opens up opportunities for local runners to compete directly with national and international runners.

"Every year we coordinate with PASI Bintan and the Riau Islands Province. We facilitate local athletes from accommodation to transportation. This is a form of our support for the development of athletic talents from the region," said Head Commercial Bintan Resorts Raja Azmizal Usman to ANTARA on the sidelines of a press conference in Jakarta, Wednesday.

He added that the initiative was an initial step to find potential athletes from a young age. The organizers also opened opportunities for national training athletes to participate in the competition.

"So far there has been no request from the national training center to send athletes to the Bintan Marathon. But if there is, we are very open because this is part of our responsibility as part of the sports community," said Raja.

This year, Mandiri Bintan Marathon has also officially received certification from the International Marathon and Long Distance Running Association (AIMS), which guarantees the quality of route measurements, time recording, and runner safety standards.
