Manchester United's new striker Bryan Mbeumo revealed that a warm conversation with Ruben Amorim was the main reason he chose to join the Red Devils, despite receiving offers from several other big clubs including Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur.
The Cameroon international becomes Amorim's second major signing of the summer, after United completed his transfer from Brentford for £71 million (approximately Rp1.8 trillion). He admitted he was attracted by the manager's vision and the new challenge Old Trafford offers.
"I spoke to a few other managers because I wanted to know their projects, but the Manchester United project was a perfect fit for me," Mbeumo was quoted as saying by ESPN.
"I'm a person who likes challenges, and there's a really good project in Manchester. I want to be a part of it," he added.
Mbeumo said his discussions with Amorim were constructive and convincing.
He admitted that he found a match when he received a clear explanation of what Amorim wanted.
"He said, 'We are people who like to win and want to be the best team,' and of course that's what we're going to try to achieve," he said.
