Technology company Microsoft stated that it will no longer employ engineers in China to handle work related to the United States Department of Defense (DoD).
the statement came after a Pro Publica report several days ago which revealed that Microsoft previously employed engineers in China to help maintain the DoD cloud computing system.
According to the report, the existing system relied on "digital monitors" (US citizens with security clearances) to monitor engineers based in China. However, Pro Publica found that these monitors sometimes lacked the technical expertise to effectively monitor engineers.
