Ministry of Transportation is ready to receive truck driver representatives regarding today's ODOL demonstration

The Ministry of Transportation has confirmed that it is ready to receive representatives from truck drivers regarding the demonstration carried out by a joint Indonesian truck driver organization which is holding a demonstration today, regarding the Over Dimension Over Loading issue.

Ready," said the Director General of Land Transportation at the Ministry of Transportation, Aan Suhanan, when met.

Aan said that a meeting had previously been held between the Ministry of Transportation and representatives of truck drivers regarding the ODOL issue.

In the meeting, a number of key issues were raised by the drivers, including the revision of the Priority Law, protection for drivers including welfare aspects, and law enforcement that does not only target drivers as objects.

In addition, other demands include handling of thuggery and extortion practices in the field as well as a request to review the upper limit tariff for goods transportation, which in total amount to around five points.

"Actually, we already received it yesterday, we already talked about what date, right? We also met with these friends. Yes, maybe they, these friends want more, because this demonstration has been planned for a long time, maybe they just convey what? Their aspirations, yes, to us," he said.

According to him, today's action is part of an agenda that has been planned for quite some time, so the Ministry of Transportation views it as a form of conveying legitimate aspirations from the community.

Aan ensured that if the truck drivers wanted to meet and discuss again, the Ministry of Transportation would welcome them with open arms in order to find the best solution together.

He also emphasized that the Ministry of Transportation continues to maintain open communication to bridge the needs of business actors with applicable regulations.

"Yes, if they want to meet, we'll meet them, right? We often meet our people. Yes, we've met them too," he said again.

On the other hand, the Central Jakarta Metro Police deployed hundreds of personnel to oversee the demonstration carried out by the combined Indonesian truck driver organizations at the Ministry of Transportation and the Indonesian House of Representatives regarding ODOL.

"There is security at the DPR and at the Ministry of Transportation," said Head of Public Relations of the Central Jakarta Metro Police, Ipda Ruslan Basuki when confirmed in Jakarta, Wednesday.

According to him, the demonstration will take place at the back door of the Ministry of Transportation, precisely on Jalan Abdul Muis.
