The march, called by the Moroccan Initiative for Support and Advocacy (a non-governmental organization), passed through several major streets in Tangier before converging on the city center, drawing widespread public participation.
The demonstrators chanted slogans denouncing the displacement policies facing Palestinians in Gaza. They also expressed their rejection of the targeting of the occupied West Bank, calling on the international community to take urgent action to pressure Israel to halt its open war against the Palestinian people. The protesters raised slogans in support of Gaza and others warning of the famine plaguing civilians amid the ongoing blockade.
This popular movement comes at a time when Gaza is experiencing catastrophic humanitarian conditions due to the tightened Israeli blockade imposed since March 2, 2025. This blockade has been followed by the closure of crossings and the prevention of food and medical aid from entering, exacerbating famine and a sharp deterioration in the health and living conditions of the Strip's residents.
In a related development, Israel continued its intense bombardment of Gaza. Since dawn on Saturday, attacks have killed 89 Palestinians, including 36 who died of starvation, in addition to dozens more wounded in various parts of the Strip.
The Ministry of Health in Gaza warned earlier on Saturday of the increasing number of Palestinians arriving at hospitals with severe fatigue, stressing that hundreds of children and women face imminent death due to lack of food and healthcare.
The Government Media Office in Gaza reported on Friday that the death toll from hunger and lack of medicine has risen to 620 since October 7, 2023, while 650,000 children are at risk of death from malnutrition, and approximately 60,000 pregnant women are at risk of death due to lack of healthcare and food.
Since October 7, 2023, Israel has continued its war of extermination in the Gaza Strip, including killing, starvation, destruction, and forced displacement, ignoring all international calls and orders from the International Court of Justice to halt the war.
This genocide, with full American support, left more than 199,000 Palestinians dead and wounded, most of them children and women, in addition to more than 9,000 missing and hundreds of thousands displaced. A famine also claimed the lives of many, including dozens of children.
