MotoGP has confirmed that it will no longer use fossil fuels in the 2027 season and will instead use 100 percent renewable fuels.
MotoGP confirmed it will use renewable fuel after conducting a series of C14 fuel trials.
"The C14 test measures the fraction of C14, which is a shorter-lived isotope of carbon lost in fossil fuels due to their long-term decay, of the total carbon, and compares it to standard levels found in the atmosphere," MotoGP wrote on Wednesday.
C14 fuel is a fuel obtained from biofuel and also CO2 carbon.
MotoGP has committed to reducing fossil fuels since 2024.
During that season, MotoGP set a 40 percent fossil fuel use limit. This energy transition will be significant for the 2027 season and is expected to be one of the more environmentally friendly fuel options.
