Newcastle's bid for Yoane Wissa rejected by Brentford

Newcastle's bid to sign striker Yoane Wissa in this summer's transfer window has reportedly been rejected by fellow Premier League club Brentford.

According to a report by The Athletic journalist David Ornstein on Wednesday, Newcastle's £25 million (approximately Rp. 550 billion) offer did not attract Brentford's attention.

Despite this offer being rejected, Newcastle are still not willing to give up on signing Wissa, especially as personal terms between the two parties are no longer an issue.

After having this offer rejected, the Democratic Republic of Congo international has returned to England to hold talks with the club's hierarchy regarding his future, amid a fresh offer from Newcastle.

It is expected that the Magpies will make a new offer with a higher value and they hope to persuade Brentford to let Wissa go.

Newcastle have made Wissa their top target in this hot transfer window after losing out to Liverpool for Hugo Ekitike.

Meanwhile, according to Sky Sports reports, Brentford have set a price tag of around £30-40 million (approximately Rp. 660-880 billion) for Wissa.

Brentford were actually reluctant to let Wissa go in this summer's transfer window, especially since they had just sold striker Bryan Mbeumo to Manchester United.

In the 2024/2025 season, the 28-year-old appeared in 39 matches across various competitions, scoring 20 goals and providing five assists in a total of 3,079 minutes of playing time.
