Observers regret Ole Romeny's injury incident

Football observer Akmal Marhali regretted the injury incident that befell Oxford United striker and Indonesian national team striker Ole Romeny.

In the Group A preliminary match of the 2025 President's Cup at Si Jalak Harupat Stadium, Bandung, Oxford United, who were challenged by Arema FC, presented a high-tension match.

The incident occurred when Arema FC player Paulinho's hard tackle hit Ole Romeny. The Indonesian national team striker was then stretchered off the field and was unable to continue the match. Paulinho was only given a yellow card by the referee.

"The violation was highly inappropriate and should have resulted in an immediate red card, considering the significant risk to a player like Ole who is building the coach's trust and physical and mental readiness ahead of next season's official Oxford competition in England," Akmal Marhali told reporters on Saturday.

Akmal Marhali said that this incident certainly did not benefit Oxford United and especially Ole Romeny.

Ole joined Oxford United midway through the 2024/2025 season, and the striker, who wears the number 11 jersey, faced the demands of quick adaptation and high competition.
