Chelsea coach Enzo Maresca is ready to face PSG like a chess game

Chelsea coach Enzo Maresca stated that his team is ready to face Paris Saint-Germain in the 2025 Club World Cup final on Sunday local time, like a game of chess.

"I love playing chess and watching chess," Maresca said in a pre-match press conference, as quoted from the FIFA website.

"I feel like football is like a game of chess, and when your opponent makes a move, you have to respond. I think this match will be like a chess match."

Chelsea advanced to the final after eliminating Fluminense in the semifinals, while PSG emerged as strong favorites after winning the Champions League, Ligue 1, and Coupe de France last season. However, Maresca emphasized that his squad still has a chance if they can execute their strategy correctly.

While acknowledging PSG's strength as the best team in the world right now, Maresca believes every match has its own story. "They're a top team in Europe and the world, perhaps the best in the world, but every match is different, and we'll try to play a good game," he said.
